Kenpong Academy has further cemented its reputation as Ghana’s foremost youth football institution following a highly successful training tour in Belgium. The Academy’s Under-18 team demonstrated its quality in a series of high-profile friendly matches against top Belgian opposition, recording a 3-1 victory over Club Brugge’s U-18, a 1-1 draw with KV Mechelen U-18, and a narrow 3-1 loss to KRC Genk U-18.

For the Academy’s founder and benefactor, Kennedy Agyapong (Kenpong), these results underscore the program’s technical proficiency and its competitive standing against elite European youth systems. In a media interview upon the team’s return, he highlighted the tour’s significant benefits. “The exposure and experience vastly broadened the team’s technical and tactical horizons,” he stated. “Notably, four of our players have been invited to return to Belgium for short-term training with Club Brugge—a collaborative initiative we intend to make an annual tradition.”

Agyapong added that their Belgian counterparts recognized the considerable football potential within Ghana and expressed a strong desire to help cultivate these talents into future stars. The tour’s training and development were expertly guided by renowned local coach J.E. Sarpong, who worked in synergy with KV Mechelen’s Eric Asante.

Coach Sarpong deemed the expedition a resounding success, noting that it provided the players with invaluable exposure to international standards and rigorous professional training methodologies. Building on this achievement, Kenpong Academy is already finalizing arrangements for a subsequent tour to Spain, scheduled for December 2025 or early January 2026.
